Video Portrait Project Revision

After careful consideration of the final cut, the three main things I changed were as follows. I took out the fairy spot dust in every shot. I chose to include this effect in the first and final shot. Secondly I lowered the volume of the instrumental. My thought behind this is, the feedback received said the beat seemed to not fit. While I didn't agree with this assessment I did decide the volume being too high might cause this concern. Lastly I shortened a few of the clips to get within the one minute time frame. The first cut was 2 seconds over in length.

Aaron Collins Self Portrait Peer Review

To follow the theme of your fact paced hectic lifestyle here is my review for your video in two paragraphs!
I really enjoyed your music. The instrumental really dictated the hectic frenzy you were trying to convey. With that being said, I would suggest using more camera angles. I understand this would require you to reshoot the whole video as well as re-edit. With time constraints and us coming to the end in the class I know this is close to impossible but just a suggestion for future projects. I feel like your video would have been very fun to watch had the video made quick cuts to different angles. Also I would suggest at the end maybe giving  a grin or some kind of face to express how exhausted you are from the fact paced lifestyle.
I liked how you managed to speed the clips in the beginning. I thought the editing of those first few clips were executed very well. Overall I enjoyed your video and really look forward to seeing your final revision. Great work sir!

AET Week 4 Peer Review

My Peer Review for Aaron Collins

Reflect
Your ad was very effective in the conceptual department. I really like how specific you were with the direction of giving for the holidays as well as playing the white elephant gift game. Your Text used in your campaign was elegant and very effective toward the overall mood of your project.

Inquire
What is the thought process behind giving gifts? Could you have elaborated on this effectively within the project design? Why was a wine bottle chosen?

Suggest
I would consider adding a graphic or text to the label of your wine bottle. Your ad is very nice to look at but I had trouble trying to figure out how the wine bottle flowed with the elegant design to the left of it. The white background behind it made it stick out in a way it seemed to not flow.

Elevate
Maybe you could incorporate people giving gifts to each other in the design or people enjoying the holidays together. This would seem to flow better. Your text and graphic on the left are awesome! I think eliminating the wine bottle would repurpose and shift focus to how terrific the initial concept is. Great job overall!

Portfolio Subject Selection

What is the name or title of your subject?
"Topeka's 1st Annual Independence Day BBQ Competition"

What is the nature of the subject? Provide a description or bio.
This local bbq competition is intended to provide a competitive outlet for all local pit masters and bbq enthusiasts alike. The art of barbecue is synonymous with being American. This is why every year on July 4th we will invite everyone to come participate and support the local barbecue scene.

What is the subject’s main purpose or goal?
The goal is to raise money for multiple charities in Topeka, KS. There will be a prize awards for the chefs and cooking teams who place in each category. Outside of this all other profits from entry fees as well as the money gained by the general public in attendance will be spread amongst the charities in Topeka in hopes we can boost and accelerated the growth of the city of Topeka.

What are the subject’s core values?
The core values are four elements. The first being promoting healthy and fair cooking competition. The second being celebrating the day our beautiful nation established its independence. The third being demonstrating and educating the public on safe but great quality barbecuing. The fourth being the continued growth of the city of topeka.

Who is the subject’s intended audience, members, or customers?
The intended audience is as many people we can reach in hopes that all in attendance will have a great time knowing they are a part of the growth of topeka while celebrating safely the american tradition of BBQ and July 4th!
Our members would be the chefs and/or cooking teams who compete within the competition. Our only restriction is that anyone who enters to compete must having proving residency in the state of Kansas. This is not to discriminate against anybody who does not reside in Kansas, but is a way to celebrate all of the great people who reside on our state that are able to provide the highest quality BBQ in the nation.

Does the subject have any specific symbols or logos?
There is not a specific symbol or logo but the tagline that will be on all advertisements will be "Our State's Best!"
Is the subject associated with any particular color or color?
The colors will be Red, Blue and White. This is cliche' but I feel this is the best way to promote and celebrate the goal of hosting the event on July 4th every year.
What do you see as the subject’s greatest media needs?
Our greatest media need is awareness of event through advertisement. The event can be as big as we want it to be but the key essential to the growth of the event will be flooding all advertisement mediums available.
